Vintage Frito's Ads

Love the Frito's. Not sure about the characters they chose in the past to be their "mascot" though...

The first one is from 1954. The second, I'm not sure of.

Weird Beech Nut Ad and Lifesavers Ad

From 1940 comes this Mr. Fantastic version of...a cop? The mailman? Some random army guy?

I can't tell why I find this irrationally-happy moon ad creepy, but it just is. That moon is going to swallow that lifesaver, and then go murderin'.

Creepy Weird Green Giant Ad/Creepy Kid/ Creepy Mask

From 1945 comes "the Big Corn and Pea Man", and what I imagine will be a horrible rape or murder.

Then, not sure what this is but I'd guess it's French weirdness.  From 1948. Yeah, go ahead and put lipstick on your mask, cuz that's perfectly normal.

And here's this 1952 ad featuring a young sociopath who's eating his can of Pork and Beans before he commits his third murder of the day.

I guess this passed as cute back then...

Vintage Burger King and Chicken Dinner Ads

I remember these ads from my early childhood...they're both from 1976.

Then we have a pretty funny Chicken Dinner Candy ad? What exactly is that? I'm not sure what year this came out.

Finally a funny photo of the Chicken Dinner-mobile. Sure, I'll totally buy your chicken-flavored candy from your chicken-shaped car...

Vintage Candy Ads

I don't know what it is about vintage candy ads that fascinate me, but even the ones not from my past are pretty cool. Here's some more uncommon ones I've found.

First up is this 1933 Butterfinger ad. Tell you the truth I didn't realize this candy was THAT old. And only a nickel!

Then a 1939 Doublemint Gum ad. This gum was a favorite of my dad.

 Then a 1953 Butterfinger ad.
Finally a 1956 Nestle Milk Chocolate ad. Talk about another time--all of these are clearly from that!

Hairy Chests and Honey Sugar Puffs Cereal

Yes, you NEED a hairy chest, and for just ten dollars you could have gotten one! Man, that guy is emanating all sorts of sex appeal, isn't he?

Then from 1956 comes this Golden Honey Sugar Puffs cereal ad. I guess this morphed into the Sugar Puffs--they both have a bear for the mascot, right?

btw: I just found out that Sugar Puffs has been renamed to "Golden Crisp"? When did that happen?

Not that I care--never really liked them. I'm more of a Pebbles or Peanut Butter Captain Crunch kind of guy.

Okay, I'll admit I wish these would make a comeback:

Now I'm aware they TECHNICALLY made a comeback and are around, but as many have pointed out the product's not the same at all. Basically they just took the name, and made a new product.

I want what we had back then! One of my favorites. Cookie Crisp cereal!

Valentine's Day and Douches

Yeah, not really a theme in this post unless you wanna make some big leaps but here you go.

First a very cool Valentine's Day Coca Cola ad from 1954!

And then a pretty funny in a ridiculous douche ad. Not sure of the year, but I think it's the 80's.
